STEP 1 - FIND THE BED BUG SOURCE...

Bed bugs are masters at hiding. They hide during the day (unless they are super hungry) and come out to feed at night. They like dark tight spaces. And their main source of food is human blood.

THE KEY TO GETTING RID OF BED BUGS FOREVER:
If you do not find the source of where the bed bugs are nesting and breeding, you will never get rid of them. And while they love to hide in your bed, they also can be found in many other places.

COMMON HIDING PLACES - SEARCH THESE PLACES FIRST TO FIND THE MAIN SOURCE AND EGGS:

- Remove all of your bedding and put them in plastic trash bags. Tightly tie the bag so even small bugs cannot escape.

- Once bagged up, transfer the bedding directly to your washing machine and wash on the highest heat you can without doing damage to your clothes.

- After washing bedding and clothes. Place them immediately in the dryer (also on the hottest setting if it will not ruin them, and dry for at least 1 hour.

NEXT YOU WILL WANT TO SEARCH YOUR MATTRESS, BOX SPRING AND BED FRAME:

Once your bedding is removed, you will want to search for bed bugs and their tell-tale signs.

Your mattress is the place to start. Look for signs of bed bug activity on the mattress and in the inseams. If you have a pillow top bed, they could be hiding between the mattress and the pillow top. Don't forget to turn your mattress over and search underneath.

Pro Tip 1: Make sure you have a good flashlight for darker spaces like inseams.

Pro Tip 2: Vacuuming is also key to ending bed bug infestations. While searching we suggest you vacuum all surfaces (especially those inseams). More on that below.

In addition to live bed bugs you will want to look for:

- Reddish stains that look like blood stains

- Dark rusty colored stains

- Bed bug shells (the outer carcas, or egg shells)

The next place to search is your box spring and bed frame.

Take the mattress off of the bed and look all around for signs of bed bug activity. It is important to look underneath the mattress, and box spring. Thoroughness is key here!

You may also see bed bugs or bed bug activity lurking behind the the headboard of your bed. It is best to move the entire bed away from the wall and search (and treat) everywhere.

Take apart your bed and also your bed frame. It is important to disassemble your bed frame and search there too!

BUT DON'T STOP AT THE BED! OTHER CRITICAL BED BUG HIDING PLACES...

Bed bugs hide and breed NEAR your bed too. it is super important to check:

- Night tables, couches and other furniture in room. (inside, under and behind!)

- Walls, molding, crevices and cracks in walls and floors (and around the perimeter of the room).

Please note that if you live in an apartment building. bed bugs could be coming in from another apartment through the common walls.

- Rugs, Carpet and flooring. (and even underneath)

- What's on your bed (or your kids bed) counts too. Any pillows, stuffed animals, etc. needs to be checked for signs of bed bug activity too.

- Books, book cases, dressers (and in the dresser drawers!). Don't forget lamps, picture frames, even under your clock.

- Oddly enough you will may want to check your electrical outlets (be careful. Electrical outlets can be dangerous if you do not know your way around them), ceiling fans, lighting and anywhere in a room.

Step 2: How to Kill Bed Bugs (and keep them from coming back)

1. We already discussed bagging and washing your bedding and clothes. That is the first thing you are going to do.

2. Next, you will want to treat your mattress. Spray your mattress with Premo Guard Bed Bug Spray. Spray thoroughly and do not miss any part of the mattress. Make sure you get the inseams sprayed. Use a mist, not a saturation spray for best coverage. And do shake the bottle to mix the ingredients often.

At this time you will also want to spray your box spring, bed frame, headboard (and behind), night tables (remove all items and inspect for bed bug activity as described above and spray inside), chairs, and any items within 10 feet of your bed.

3. Once Premo Guard has dried (under 1/2 hour), and you do not see any live bed bugs, you can spray again to be safe.

Once you have sprayed the immediate area you will spray the entire room (or rooms). Premo Guard is odorless, stain free and non toxic.
